The AMS Redfern Drug and Alcohol service provides support to clients experiencing substance use issues through pharmacotherapies, detoxification and rehabilitation programs, support and counselling. The unit is open 5 days a week and clients are supported by Aboriginal health workers, nurses and doctors. If you are experiencing issues with substance use please make an appointment with one of our General Practitioners (GP’s) for a referral. The service offers; Assessment and Referral for Detoxification and rehabilitation; Drug Treatment Programs; Counselling for Alcohol and/or drug related issues; Information on Drug effects, rehabs, detox and information for community

Our programs empower clients to participate in decision making relating to their own health and wellbeing and promote reconnection to Country and culture. The Itha Mari program encompasses men’s and women’s health groups, mob lunch and weekly yarning circles. These events encourage Aboriginal clients to give voice to their health needs and other concerns, working with engaging cultural activities such as artwork, weaving, painting, beading and storytelling. The Deadly Liver Mob (DLM) is a health promotion program aimed at increasing understanding and testing of hepatitis C, and other blood-borne viruses and sexually transmissible infections among Aboriginal people in NSW.
