The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is an Australian Government funded program to recruit volunteers to visit older people in residential aged care or those in receipt of a Home Care package who are socially isolated. These volunteers provide friendship and companionship through one-on-one visits.

Canterbury City Community Centre operates as a community hub where residents can become involved in a range of activities or services, can meet others within their community or participate in the work of the Centre through Volunteering or membership. Some of our activities are ongoing and have been delivered over many years. Sometimes we have short courses or activities that are delivered on a one off basis. All of our Services seek to fulfill our Statement of Purpose ... to connect individuals and Communities to develop and provide services responsive to community needs and individual choice; promote harmony, social inclusion and an improved quality of life; and build capacity, sustainability and resilience.

Surry Hills Library also has a collection of Russian books, newspapers, CDs and DVDs and Chinese newspapers. Rhyme time and story time is available every Wednesday and various children's activities are held throughout the school holidays.

Maronites on Mission is a group of dedicated volunteers who reach out to the marginalised members of our society to relieve some of their sufferings and provide some companionship. We have a number of initiatives that we are currently focusing on: A weekly food van outreach program to Woolloomooloo and Martin Place every Thursday, which caters for approximately 150 people. A home visit program providing companionship, food packs and support to struggling families on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis depending on the circumstances of the families.

Bankstown Meals on Wheels began in 1966 with 16 clients. Today, the service delivers around 55,000 meals a year. We have more than 160 dedicated and caring volunteers who give their time to provide, not just a nourishing meal, but also friendly contact and a few laughs each day with clients. Without their support, Meals on Wheels would not be the essential supporting and caring service it is today.
